With a population under 400 people, I feel fortunate to have grown up in the coastal village of Trinidad. Growing up, I spent most of my free time riding my horse on the scenic trails and beaches. As a Humboldt State student, I had the opportunity to live in nearly every town between Trinidad and Eureka, finally settling into home ownership with my husband in Eureka 20 years ago. I appreciate how different each town is and how fortunate we are as Humboldt County residents to live so close to nature—we can swim in a river, hike in redwoods, and stroll through dunes to a deserted beach, and all in the same day!
